Grip Juice was created by basketball coach and wanna be player Gerard Dorssers in his home in Ōtorohanga after he fractured his ankle trying to keep up with much younger players. The court was slippery, his shoes were tired, and his fitness was lacking to say the least.

While out of action, Gerard decided something had to be done about the constant slippery floors at the local gym.

Replacing the floors wasn’t an option. Buffing the floor before every booking seemed ridiculous, and buying new shoes every month is just plain unaffordable - there must be another option! A bit of research revealed shoe sprays are very popular overseas, but not readily available in NZ, and especially not for an affordable price.

Grip Juice was born with some trial, a little bit of error, and some fine tuning of the recipe.

Gerard now sticks to a “Masters” pace on the court to prevent injury. But while doing so, he has confidence that his shoe grip is at it’s best! Unlocking that first explosive step to gain advantage, and quick stop confidence on defense.

Gerard, his wife Maria, and their four kids have always been involved with local clubs, committees, and sports teams. They understand how sports fees, uniforms, and equipment can become quite expensive over the season. That is why Grip Juice must be affordable, accessible and long lasting.
